Spring Break

This week Reed & I have been on spring break. So far its been great. Dane took Monday off & he's off on Friday too. I still have hopes of painting the kitchen, but this may not turn out to be reality. I had a whole list of things I wanted to get done around the house over break, but I have managed not to complete even 1 of the items. It's hard to find the time when you're home alone with an infant all day! Maybe I'll get some stuff accomplished while Dane's home with me tomorrow.
Reed has had a lot of fun with mom this week. He's laughed a lot and spent some time on his activity mat exploring the toys and mirrors and such on it. He's rolling over like a freakin pro now, from both his stomach and his back. As soon as we put him on his back he's rolling over. Makes changing diapers an adventure!
Here's what Reed's been up to lately:

Getting ready for a run w Dad. Look at that lip!

Ready to run (sorry, thought I had saved it rotated the right way...oops).

Such a handsome guy.

Reed has also gone the whole week sleeping through the night in his crib! What a big boy. He goes to the doctor for his 4 month check up on Tuesday next week. Wonder how big he is now?

Nothing

Not too much has happened this past week. Reed has been in a very good mood and has slept really well at night. The ladies at daycare gushed over how strong Reed is. They are so impressed at how much weight he bears on his legs and how long he can sustain it. They predict he will skip crawling and just go straight to walking...we'll see ;) They've started putting him in the "exersaucer" for about 10-15 minutes at a time now and report that he really loves it. Dane and I should invest in one for the home to give Reed more to do outside of laying on his back on his play mat or sitting in his bumbo.

Daffodils blooming in our flower bed in the backyard! We planted these when Reed was still in my belly :)

Reed really likes to sleep on his side with his head craned back. Don't worry, we didn't let him fall out of the swing.

I don't remember if I posted this pic from Valentine's Day or not. Even if it's a repeat, it's still cute.

Happy Spring....oh, and Happy Spring Break!!!

A Day of Firsts

Reed has had an exciting day!

Reed loves to smile and has been working on a "real" laugh for the past couple of weeks now. Well, today all that hard work paid off! He laughed when mom was playing with him and then laughed some more when dad was plaing with him. What a sweet sweet noise :)

Also for the past couple of weeks, when lying on his back Reed will get himself up on his side. We've been waiting for him to roll over and make it the rest of the way onto his stomach. Today he did it!!! He started by getting onto his belly while still having one arm underneath him, but after some more practice he finally got that arm out from under him and made the complete roll from his back to his stomach! How exciting!!!

It's so much fun watching him reach these milestones. Now to work on rolling from stomach to back ;)

Nothin Much

Not much has been goin on in the Sample house lately. Dakota turned 6 and I took her shopping. Tyler turned 21. Reed is now 3.5 months and  has crazy good neck control. He's getting cuter by the day as well. Here are some pics:

Reed enjoying some morning coffee with mom. We both have some bed-head.

Super cute smile. Happy Baby!

Reed getting ready to do some yard work with Dad.

Prof Reed.

Let's hope today was the last snow before spring! Here's hoping for some warmer weather and plenty of walks with Dane, Two Socks and Reed :)

Work

Reed has an ear infection, so I brought him to work with me this morning and Pat picked him up to watch him this afternoon.
While at Shearwater, Reed attended our staff meeting (where he contributed some very valuable information) and then diligently went to work re-engaging the youth of St. Louis.

The future of America is bright ladies and gentlemen :)

Uh oh...

I took Reed to the doctor yesterday because his stuffy nose & cough really haven't gotten any better since he finished his antibiotics a couple of weeks ago. The diagnoses is that his lungs are clear BUT he has an ear infection. This explains his recent, more frequent fussiness as well as his disrupted sleep patterns the past week. So, he's back on the sauce (antibiotics + Tylenol for the pain). Hoping it works. Mom also has an ear infection/cold so I'm feeling his pain. We're gonna give him a little break from daycare in the hopes that this will give his little body some time to get rid of the infection away from all the germs daycare has. He's gonna come to work with me Monday morning & then Pat is going to pick him up after she is finished teaching around 11. We'll play it by ear for Tuesday.

Prayers for Reed are much appreciated (& I guess for me too)!

He's Gonna Be A Scientist!

I had a student tell me that Reed looks like he's going to be a scientist based on the way he has his hair combed over to one side. Sometimes I just stare at Reed and wonder what he will be...what kind of person he will become, what career he will chose, the choices he will make. It's scary and exciting at the same time. The possibilities are limitless.
Reed was dedicated at church on Sunday. He had a good showing of support from family too (thanks Papa, Pat, Uncle Tyler, Aunt Cate, Grandma Lori, Grandpa Al, Aunt Devan, Uncle Chadd, Aunt Darci & Trevor!). He did a really good job and didn't even make a peep. He was really interested in the microphone and everyone thought he was super cute. He got a lot of compliments after the service.

Reed is really starting to like bath time. He was so comfortable on this occasion that he fell asleep.

Here Reed decided to pitch in and help Dad wash out his bottles. What a good little boy!

Dad gave him a mohawk.

Reed will be 3 months old tomorrow! Crazy. He's so much more alert now and has been smiling at Mom and Dad a lot lately. I think he may even be on the verge of getting some teeth. I just hope that's not as painful for us as it is for him!
Time to get to bed now. As my mom would have said, "Love ya, love ya, love ya baby. Good night, sleep tight...don't let the bed bugs bite, don't go bump into things that go bump in the night."
